Oct 7 UPDATE: From the seems to be of her, ship is struggling a significant hearth which erupted in containers, with thick black smoke billowing from burning containers, superstructure is engulfed in smoke and doubtless, hearth, and is clearly uninhabitable. All 25 crew deserted the ship and have been rescued, understood by passing tanker. Later they’ve been taken by Saudi Arabia CG and disembarked at Jazan Port, Saudi Arabia, all are protected. Ship’s AIS is off – no marvel right here. Passing ships within the space give burning ship’s location a large berth, understood avoiding attainable poisonous smoke, fumes and explosions.
Oct 6 Report: Rumors are container ship TSS PEARL is on hearth or disabled by hearth in Purple sea. Ship’s final AIS was round 2000 UTC Oct 5, ship was already adrift. She’s en route from Jeddah to Aden, ETA Oct 7. Awaiting updates.
