Fire erupted in cargo hold of bulk carrier BATAVIA EXPRESS sailing west of Cape Town, on Sep 15 or earlier. Bulk carrier is en route from Santos Brazil to Qingdao China. The ship had to interrupt voyage and request assistance, she was taken to Saldanha Bay northern anchorage, where she was assisted by firefighters. Later she moved to Cape Town anchorage until found safe to be docked. She was berthed at Cape Town on Sep 20, fire is reported to be finally, extinguished, by Sep 22. Remained berthed as of morning Sep 23.
