Bulk carrier SOPHIA Z suffered steering failure at around 1900 LT Oct 14 in Bosphorus, while transiting the Strait in southern direction, en route from Bulgaria to Spain. 3 tugs responded, understood the ship had to be anchored for at least 2 hours, resumed transit shortly after 2300 LT Oct 14, gathered way and is understood to sail under own power after fixing problem. Was sailing in southern part of the Strait as of 0020 LT Oct 15.
