Bulk carrier interrupted voyage, ordered to pick up 300 migrants, Med | PAOLO TOPIC - News2Sea

Bulk carrier PAOLO TOPIC had to interrupt her voyage from Ashdod to Diliskelesi Turkey, in the evening Sep 19, west of Cyprus. The ship was ordered by Turkish Maritime Authorities to “rescue” some 300 illegal migrants on board of a boat, as nearest ship to this, allegedly distressed, boat. PAOLO TOPIC had to pick up migrants, and sail to Turkish waters, to dispose of her “passengers”. She reached Antalya anchorage in the evening Sep 20, was still at anchor as of 1520 UTC Sep 20, hopefully having already completed disembarkation.
