Norwegian ship broker Fearnleys has strengthened its activities in tanker, trading and LPG fields by purchasing UK-based Ocean Shipbrokers.

Fearnleys said the move would double the size, customer reach and market coverage of the company’s tanker team.

Founded in 2006, Ocean Shipbrokers has tanker branches in Beijing, Singapore, Dubai, Geneva, Oslo and approximately 30 employees at its head office in London.

Dan Gundy, director of Ocean Shipbrokers, said: “This combination of companies will bring a new and dynamic approach to the customers we serve as well as providing further development opportunities within the Fearnleys group.”

Commenting on the deal, Marius Hermansen, CEO of Astrup Fearnley, said: “This is a long-awaited development and the timing could not be better in the early stages of the expected multi-year upturn in the tanker market. This merger provides a greatly improved offer to customers and a means to attract more talent.” It will create a platform.”

The agreement will come into force on September 21 and the integration process will begin immediately with Astrup Fearnley Group’s 380 employees in brokerage and financial services and 15 offices worldwide.
