A crew member of general cargo ship NOORDDIJK mysteriously disappeared while the ship was transiting Kiel Canal, in the evening Sep 26. Police and fire departments were alerted, but extensive search with use of drone and helicopter, didn’t yield any results, he wasn’t found found, dead or alive. The only trace found was a pair of shoes on deck. Was it suicide, or crime, or attempt to escape, is yet a mystery. The ship was allowed to resumed her journey from Delfzijl to Rostock, she arrived there in the morning Sep 28. Sailor’s details, including rank and nationality, weren’t disclosed, except his age – he’s 38 years old.
