Tanker MTM Dublin
A crew member who fell off the vessel “MTM DUBLIN” was rescued off the coast of Boston, Massachusetts, by a group of commercial fishermen. Tragically, the rescued man later passed away in the hospital.
According to reports from the fishermen, they received a distress call from the anchored MTM DUBLIN at 4:37 AM. The distress call indicated that a crew member had gone overboard during rough sea conditions while a pilot ladder was being deployed. The radio transmitted Mayday calls and a man overboard signal from the tanker.
The fishing vessel, “AMERICA,” happened to be nearby and promptly responded to the distress call. The AMERICA was en route back to port due to adverse weather conditions, making it the nearest vessel to the tanker at that moment. The crew swiftly diverted to assist.
Under the cover of darkness before dawn, the America’s crew commenced a search operation. They combed the area with flashlights and, by sheer chance, spotted the orange vest worn by the crew member who had gone overboard. The man was located approximately one mile from the MTM DUBLIN’s anchor point.
The rescued crew member was pulled aboard the AMERICA, where immediate CPR was administered. The America then sped toward the port with the US Coast Guard and the Boston Fire Department’s boats following closely behind. Upon reaching the fish pier, Boston EMS took custody of the victim for further medical care.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics who continued to administer CPR, the victim’s life could not be saved. The district attorney’s office confirmed the unfortunate news of his passing. As of now, the identity of the deceased crew member remains unknown.
