The cruise ship “VALIANT LADY” returned to Port MIAMI after a passenger died from a fall from their balcony. Reportedly, the passenger fell onto another person on the lower deck, who sustained no grievous injuries.
The accident occurred shortly after the vessel had departed MIAMI on April 2nd for Roatan, Honduras. The ship returned to port and was met by local first responders and the crime scene investigation team. After several hours in the port, the vessel departed on a modified itinerary.
The passenger fell from their Deck 14 balcony to the lower deck, sustaining severe injuries. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, the passenger passed away. To safeguard the woman’s privacy, details such as her name, age, and what may have led to her fall have not been released.
This has not been the first such unfortunate incident aboard this vessel. During the VALIANT LADY’s maiden voyage in April 2022, a male passenger went overboard in the Atlantic as the ship was returning to the UK. The French and Spanish SAR authorities launched a search with assistance from two good Samaritan vessels that were nearby, but unfortunately, the passenger was not found and the search was called off.
