Battery compartment of electric ferry ELLEN caught fire on Jul 11, and disabled pioneering electric ship, which is connecting Danish ports Soby Havn and Fynshav. Fire was extinguished by foam automatic firefighting system. Ferry was to resume trips starting Jul 14, but batteries have to be replaced, so ferry is to stay out of schedule until Jul 17. Not the first known “electric ship” fire, and undoubtedly, not the last.
