Fisheries Analysis Ship AL-AWAM sank on Oct 9 or earlier in Nouadhibou harbor, Mauritania. The ship capsized and rested starboard facet on backside, remaining partially above waterline. AL-AWAM was acquired in 1997 from Japan, particularly for fishery analysis works. For a few 12 months previous to sinking, she was in a lay-up ready for repairs, so possibly, she sank due to lack of correct upkeep.
