The Spanish Embassy reported that in addition to the Juan Carlos I and Galicia amphibious assault ships, the Cantabria logistics support ship is on its way to Iskenderun.

After the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, Spain announced that the Juan Carlos I and Galicia amphibious assault ships, which it announced to set off for the Iskenderun Port, as well as the Cantabria logistics support ship, set out for support.

“Cantabria announced that it will arrive in Iskenderun today to assist the Turkish authorities in the rescue efforts of the logistics support ship,” the Spanish Embassy’s social media account shared.

Spain’s Ministry of Defense stated that the Juan Carlos I amphibious assault ship belonging to the Spanish naval forces set off for Turkey with 500 sailors, “The navy ships named Juan Carlos I, carrying 500 sailors, and Galicia, carrying aid supplies, have been deployed since yesterday in order to help rescue people. He set out for Turkey, to the region affected by the earthquake,” he said.

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares stated that a field hospital and health experts will be sent to Turkey to “respond to those injured in the earthquake” and said “professionals from the national health system will take charge”.
