Offshore support ship GEOQUIP ELENA struck embankment in Kiel Canal at around 0240 UTC Nov 12 shortly after passing Rader Hochbruke Bridge, while transiting Canal in northern direction, en route from Netherlands to Gdansk Poland. The ship went off embankment by own means, but wasn’t allowed to resume transit, and has been taken to Rendsburg by two tugs, where she remained berthed as of morning Nov 13. No information yet on damages, and the cause of accident.
