Tanker disabled by fire, adrift off Leixoes, Portugal - News2Sea

Product tanker GRETA K reported fire on board and went adrift at around 1520 UTC Mar 21, while approaching Leixoes port, Portugal, with pilot already on board. Fire erupted, authorities said, in engine room. Tugs immediately responded, of 19 crew on board 12 non-essential were evacuated, no injures reported. Tanker arrived from Sines with cargo of diesel and jet fuel, no leak so far. Tanker with AIS on was still adrift with tugs nearby, as of morning Mar 22, understood fire under control or extinguished, firefighters monitoring possible smoldering spots and cooling fire area.
