Fire erupted in superstructure of product tanker LU DAO YOU 3 in the morning Mar 30 some 20 nm east of Quanzhou, China, Taiwan Strait. Most probably, fire started in engine room and spread further, engulfing most of superstructure, with a lot of thick smoke. SAR ships, fire boats and patrol ships responded, as well as ships nearby. 15 crew were rescued by fishing vessel, all are safe. Firefighting started, by Apr 1 fire was extinguished and hull cooled enough, to board and check tanker condition. She was found stable, she’s to be offloaded, probably by STS operation. Tanker remained anchored, AIS off since Mar 30.
