Fire erupted in engine room of tanker THUN GOTHENBURG when she entered the Lock in Brunsbuettel, Kiel Canal, at around 1900 LT Nov 9. Tanker was moored in Lock and as of 0300 LT (UTC +1) Nov 10, remained in the same position. A lot of fire engines and teams are responding, crew have been evacuated, no injures reported. Tanker is en route from Spain to Sweden. The Lock therefore, is closed for the last 8 hours as of 0200 UTC Nov 10. Tanker is disabled and rescuers plan to tow her out of Lock after extinguishing fire or putting it under control. Ships waiting for transit are lining up off Brunsbuettel, in Elbe and up the Canal, understood one-way lock transit continues.
