Product tanker SMOOTH SEA 18 at round 1800 LT Oct 8 misplaced management in Chao Phraya river in Samut Prakan, Bangkok, whereas continuing upstream in full load to an oil terminal. Tanker strayed off track after she needed to cross away from tug towing barges downstream. To keep away from grounding, tanker needed to drop anchor and reverse engine to full astern. She managed to cease being very near embankment and riverside restaurant, scaring off diners. Later tanker safely reached vacation spot, after offloading cargo she left Bangkok, certain for Sri Racha, Chonburi.
