The 11-person crew of the tanker, which was dragged aground due to strong winds in Istanbul, was rescued, and the ship was floated and released.

The Turkish-flagged tanker named “Kadriye Ana” was dragged to the shore off the coast of Zeytinburnu due to southwest winds.

The 11-person crew of the grounded tanker was stranded.

Upon the notice of the crew, Coast Guard Command, General Directorate of Coastal Safety, AFAD, fire brigade and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

Thanks to the work of the teams, the stranded crew of 11 people were rescued with the mechanism established between the land and the ship.

It was reported that no one was injured in the incident.

Teams waited for the wind to die down to save the tanker

The ship came completely close to the shore due to the strong wind that was effective throughout the night. While intense waves were forming in the sea due to the storm, Coastal Safety teams went out to the tanker they approached by boat after the weather calmed down.

The teams carried out damage assessment work on the ship. It was determined that there was no damage to the ship and it could be floated.

As the weather conditions became suitable, the “Kadriye Ana” ship was tied to the tugboat belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety with the help of rope. The ship, which was towed from its place after approximately half an hour of work, was rescued and floated to the open.

The ship is planned to be taken to Tuzla Shipyard.

It was learned that the tanker named “Kadriye Ana” weighs 1637 gross tons, is 80 meters long, 11.5 meters wide and carries 600 tons of diesel fuel.
