Great news from Ukraine – Ukrainian Parliament (Verhovnaya Rada) is considering legislation draft with new mobilization regulations, excluding certain categories of citizen from general army draft. According to new legislation, Ukrainian seamen – both officers and rank – will be excluded from general draft and as such, will be allowed to leave country, to carry out their job contracts. Ukrainian sea labor share in world sea labor total number is quite substantial, Ukrainian officers are ranked among most educated and reliable, so the news is quite great for ship owners, managers and crewing. Hopefully, legislation draft will pass all the hearings and come into force, real soon. Ukraine has to look into peaceful future where the country will have to re-build economy, and Ukrainian sea labor, in this sense, is quite an asset.
