2 bulk carriers and 1 container ship attacked, minor or no damages - News2Sea

Three cargo ship, two bulk carriers and one container ship, were attacked by Houthis in southern Red sea near Bab al-Mandab Strait, on Dec 3. All three ships sustained lminor or no damages. The Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer of US Navy USS CARNEY was also unsuccessfully attacked, and after this first attack, was engaged in assisting and defending cargo ships. Attacked were following ships:
Bulk carrier UNITY EXPLORER, IMO 9726035;
Container ship NUMBER 9, IMO 9340752;
Bulk carrier AOM SOPHIE II, IMO 9881366.
Of attacked cargo ships, only container ship logs her correct AIS and AIS records, while UNITY EXPLORER AIS is off since Nov 28. AOM SOPHIE II hided her true track in a different manner, positioning AIS positions and records in the Caribbean since Nov 26.
Container ship NUMBER 9 is en route to Suez from Singapore; UNITY EXPLORER is en route from USA probably to Singapore; AOM SOPHIE II is also sailing from USA via Gibraltar, destination unknown.

Attacks on peaceful cargo ships by terrorists are abhorrent and can’t be justified by whatever causes.
