Coast Guard teams in Bartın imposed a total fine of 231 thousand 860 TL for 2 boats fishing close to the shore.
Coast Guard Western Black Sea Group Command teams, which continue to inspect all kinds of commercial and amateur fishing activities on the basis of ensuring sustainable fishing, transferring the fish species to our next generations, giving each fish a chance to reproduce and not decreasing the fish stock, took action upon the notice of the citizens. During their checks, the teams found that two different fishing boats were fishing for aquaculture in prohibited areas.
The teams determined that the boats, which were required to hunt at least 2 miles from the shore according to legal limits, were fishing at a distance of 0.59 miles from the shore, and imposed a total administrative fine of 231 thousand 860 TL on the owners of the boats.
Reminding that our citizens’ reports have important contributions in the fight against illegal aquaculture fishing, the coast guard teams warned all fishermen, stating that the size, period, location and net bans must be strictly followed in order to ensure sustainable fishing and to transfer the fish species to the next generations.
