Of the 27 irregular immigrants who were brought by speedboat to the coast of Cadiz in southern Spain and thrown into the sea yesterday, 4 drowned and 23 were rescued.
27 irregular immigrants, who were taken from the Moroccan coast yesterday by members of a criminal organization engaged in immigrant smuggling and brought to Cadiz’s San Fernando bay by a Zodiac type speedboat with powerful engines, were thrown into the sea close to the shore.
According to the information provided by the local government of Cadiz, 23 of the irregular immigrants swam to the shore, while 4 drowned. Members of the criminal organization quickly fled the area.
In the images reflected in the press, it is seen that when the boat approached the shore, some of the irregular immigrants on board voluntarily jumped into the sea, while others, who were thought to be unable to swim, were thrown into the sea after being threatened with a knife.
The Spanish Red Cross also announced that 4 of the irregular migrants who reached the shore were hospitalized with symptoms of hypothermia.
