During pressurization test of buoyancy pontoon deployed in underwater pipe-laying, a sudden decompression occurred on Sep 28, injuring 4 personnel on board of Russian pipe-laying ship in Okhotsk sea. Injured people received medical treatment, maybe they have been medevaced. Two pipe-laying ships are presently deployed in exploration of Sakhalin offshore gas fields: AKADEMIK CHERSKIY and FORTUNA (IMO 8674156). It is believed, that the accident occurred on board of AKADEMIK CHERSKIY, because the ship left her working area and moved to a position or anchorage close to shore, but there’s no official statement yet. News was posted by Russian Telegram Channel “SakhalinOneTwo”, which is monitoring Sakhalin offshore activities.
