Leading managers of the tugboat industry attended the “Naming Ceremony” held at Sanmar Altınova Shipyard last Saturday for the powerful new harbor tug built by German operator H. Schramm Towage.

Lara König, the mother of the tugboat, named it after her son Bo.

BO, which is 25.3 m long and 12 m wide, is equipped with two high-speed, electronically controlled IMO Tier II compliant 2100kW CAT 3516C main engines for ship maneuvering – terminal support services and escort operations. It can reach 75 tons of draft power and a cruising speed of 12.5 knots and has Fi-Fi 1 fire-fighting capacity.

BO, also known as Deliçay

Sanmar Shipyards Commercial Director Rüçhan Çıvgın said: “Our industry is going through a major change with the introduction of new technologies. It is an exciting and challenging time for all of us, and despite all these changes, we think it is good that long-established traditions such as naming ceremonies continue. They are a link to the past, important indicators of our achievements and offer hope for the future. We are very happy that our valued guests participated in the event. BO is a powerful tug that is the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly to date in its class. “We worked closely with Schramm Towage to ensure it met their specific operational needs.”

H. Schramm Towage General Manager Nico Andritter-Witt said: “It was a great event to remember with family and friends. BO is perfectly functional to meet our customers’ needs, we are delighted to welcome it to our fleet in January 2024. “With BO, we will be in a better and more ready position for the future.”
