American Coast Guard teams rescued 6 fishermen who were drifting in their life raft.

Search and rescue teams affiliated with the US Coast Guard rescued 6 fishermen who were dragged in the life raft they were on after their ship sank approximately 50 kilometers off the coast of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The US rescue team, which moved to the region upon the call for help from the Dominican Republic Naval Forces Command, lifted the 6 sailors, who were about to drown because the raft they were on, into baskets suspended from the helicopter with ropes. The fishermen, who were observed to be quite exhausted, were taken to the hospital in the region and treated.

It was noted that the fishing ship “Two Brothers”, with a crew of twelve, sank shortly after calling for help, and the 6 personnel on board were rescued by a cruise ship close to the area. Considering the possibility that the remaining 6 personnel had boarded the life raft and drifted towards the Atlantic Ocean, Dominican authorities requested help from the US Coast Guard, and the fishermen were located and rescued by the American rescue team.
