On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic, the “Kano Fest 100th Anniversary” event was held in Köyceğiz, the “slow city” district of Muğla.
At the event organized by Köyceğiz Sports Club, approximately 220 sea enthusiasts from various provinces, coming with paddle boards, sea kayaks and canoes, gathered in front of the world-famous Rock Tombs for the first stage. The participants reached Iztuzu beach by rowing among the reeds in Ortaca’s Dalyan channel.
In the second stage of the event, canoe enthusiasts started from the Karabatak location of Köyceğiz Lake and rowed to Mantık Burnu.
Şenol Özdemir, a canoe traveler who rowed across four seas, also participated in the organization.
There was no music broadcast at the event due to Israel’s attacks on Gaza. Köyceğiz Dalyan Gendarmerie Boat Command and medical teams also took security measures while the canoeists were passing through the lake and canal.
Organization Coordinator Emre Karataş told the AA correspondent that approximately 220 people participated in the 100th anniversary of the Republic event with 90 paddle boards, 60 sea kayaks and canoes.
Karataş said, “Today, we are rowing in Köyceğiz Lake and Dalyan canal for our martyrs of the War of Independence, our martyrs, and our martyrs who supported the War of Independence from the sea. Our goal next year is 500, and after that a thousand people. Our main goal is to achieve this on the international arena. People from all over the world “We want to host sea kayak and paddle board lovers in Köyceğiz and Dalyan canal. We want to row on Turkey’s most beautiful course with our guests from all over the world and Turkey.” he said.
Şenol Özdemir stated that it was a nice event on the 100th anniversary of the Republic and said, “I would like to thank those who contributed and the participants. We commemorate Atatürk and his comrades with gratitude and respect for leaving such a beautiful country.” said.
İlker and Derya Kıyak, a couple from Aydın’s Nazilli district, also expressed their happiness to take part in the organization.
