Fishermen, who took a break due to the severe storm that has been effective in the Mediterranean since the weekend, did the maintenance of their bread boats and said ‘Vira Bismillah’ again.
The storm, which was warned in advance by Meteorology, was effective intermittently in the Eastern Mediterranean from the weekend until Thursday morning. Due to the storm, all boats docked at the fishing shelter in Erdemli, as well as throughout Mersin. Fishermen, who took a break from hunting due to the longest storm break of the season that opened on September 15, carried out net and boat maintenance. After the storm that lasted until the morning today, some boats that completed their maintenance went to sea again. It was stated that the captains and crews of the other boats will also set sail after completing their preparations.
Coşkun Duman, one of the captains working in the Mediterranean, stated that they worked for a while but came back when the storm increased and that they were doing network maintenance and then they would go to sea again.
Stating that the storm was harsh in the Eastern Mediterranean, Mersin Fisheries Cooperative Regional Union Vice President Yalçın Sakın said, “Preparations started after the storm. Our small and large boats will go out to sea during the day. This week’s storms put a lot of pressure on us. Thank God, our shelter is very good, so the waves do not come in.” “After the storm, we said ‘Vira Bismillah’, hopefully it will be good,” he said.
Pointing out that there are constant storms in the Mediterranean, Sakın noted that when there is a storm, the fish varieties and density increase a little more.
Boats affiliated with the Coast Guard Command also carried out precautionary checks at sea. (IHA)
