Cargo Ship Hits Bridge in Argentina

The Liberian-flagged 85,000 dwt En May vessel reportedly suffered a rudder failure and struck sideways into one of the pilings of the Bartolomé Miter Bridge in the Zárate Brazo Largo Complex, temporarily blocking navigation on the Paraná River.

The incident in Argentina occurred on Sunday afternoon local time and regional authorities sent tugboats to move the vessel, built in 2017, to safety and restore traffic on South America’s grain highway.

In the images released, En May’s hull appears to have cracks but is reportedly in no danger of sinking. There were no injuries to the crew and road traffic on the bridge was not disrupted.
