Carnival Takes Delivery of New LNG-Powered Cruise Ship From Meyer Turku - News2Sea

Meyer Turku of Finland delivered the LNG-powered cruise ship, “Carnival Celebration” to Carnival on November 2nd. The ship has been dedicated to commemorating the occasion of Carnival reaching its 50th anniversary.

The ship was built by Meyer Turku in Finland and is the 24th ship in Carnival’s fleet. Carnival Celebration is a 182,800 gross ton ship, measuring 344m in length and 42m in width, it can accommodate 5,374 passengers and 1,735 crew members. The ship will fly a Panamanian flag and will have Miami, Florida as its homeport.

The ship is the second in the company’s Excel Class and is also a part of the company’s drive to reach zero emissions by 2050.

Carnival Celebration has 6 zones that are dedicated to specific themes and offer passengers different experiences. There is a three-story glass atrium and a myriad of dining and entertainment services. The entertainment options aboard the ship include the BOLT roller coaster that is situated at the top of the ship. There is also a unique space dedicated to the celebration of 50 years of Carnival’s history. This space includes fittings, replica furniture, and decorative elements resembling those of Carnival’s earlier ships.

Carnival intends for the vessel to begin service immediately after the handover. Following the same, Carnival Celebration immediately departed for Southampton after the handover and is scheduled to begin its first customer cruise on November 6th, when it departs for its homeport in Miami. The ship will arrive in Miami on November 20th.
