Container ship VASI STAR collided with towed barge loaded with coiled metal sheets, at round 0710 LT (UTC +7) Oct 11, at Bangkok strategy channel close to pink buoy No. 23, Samut Prakan waters, whereas continuing to Bangkok, in poor visibility. Tug WIMONWAN 8 was towing 4 barges, one among them, Maha Nakhon 2, was hit by container ship, and sank. Tug with barges was additionally continuing to Bangkok, from Koh Si Chang Anchorage close to Laem Chabang. No casualties, no injures reported. VASI STAR resumed transferring shortly after collision, and berthed at Bangkok at 1030 LT identical day.
