Container ship CMA CGM MONTREAL requested assistance at around noon Oct 22 after she suffered engine breakdown and drifted dangerously close to cape Punta Almina, Ceuta, Alboran sea. SAR vessel LUZ DE MAR of SASEMAR responded and towed container ship to Algeciras, in challenging weather conditions, which prevented towage to nearby Ceuta. CMA CGM MONTREAL was berthed at Algeciras at around 0100 UTC Oct 23.
The ship sailed from Houston USA and is understood to call Tangier Morocco on Oct 20, she passed Gibraltar and sailed into Alboran sea on Oct 19, maybe to wait for scheduled berth. Not clear when exactly she suffered breakdown, on Oct 22 or earlier.
