Damage occurred to two ships that collided off the coast of Marmara Island, Balıkesir.
According to the statement made by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, the 122-meter-long wheat-laden dry cargo ship “Haje Halimeh” departing from Izmail, Ukraine, to Valencia, Spain, and the grain-laden “Asomatos”, sailing from Russia’s Kavkaz port to Ashdod, Israel. The 169-meter-long bulk cargo ship named collided off the coast of Marmara Island.
Thereupon, the “KIYEM-4” fast rescue (lifesaving) boat belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure was directed to the region.
During the inspections, it was determined that there was only damage to the ships and that there was no loss of life, injury or environmental pollution.
