Engine Issues Force Changes in Itinerary for Royal Caribbean Ship

Engine Issues Force Changes in Itinerary for Royal Caribbean Ship - News2Sea

The itinerary for a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, the “GRANDEUR OF THE SEAS,” had to be changed due to technical issues with one of its engines. The GRANDEUR OF THE SEAS is a 27-year-old vessel that is 73,817 gross tons and can accommodate 1,992 passengers at double occupancy.

According to Royal Caribbean, the engine issue is limiting the ship’s speed. The passengers of the affected cruise were notified of the itinerary changes through a letter from Royal Caribbean.

The changes were made to the upcoming February 10th departure from Port Miami in Florida. The changes include an earlier departure, the cancellation of a stop in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a shorter stay in St. Croix, Virgin Islands. To compensate for the missed stop in Puerto Rico, the ship will have an extended stay in Labadee, Haiti. The ship will return to Miami on February 19th.

The last issue with the GRANDEUR OF THE SEAS was in August 2019, when a propulsion system malfunction caused the ship to return to port and the cancellation of a cruise to Bermuda.
