Export ban from Jordan

Export ban from Jordan - News2Sea

Export ban on basic foodstuffs from Jordan due to tension in the Red Sea.

Jordan has banned the export or re-export of basic foodstuffs after tensions in the Red Sea increased the cost of imports.

Jordanian Minister of Trade and Industry Yusuf al-Shimali made a written statement on the issue.

Minister Şimali stated that his country banned the export and re-export of a group of products upon the recommendation of the Food Safety Council due to high transportation costs resulting from tensions in the Red Sea.

Without giving a date for the end of the export ban, Şimali noted that the decision covers rice, sugar and vegetable oils.

The tension arising from the Houthis in Yemen targeting ships linked to Israel had a negative impact on navigation in the Red Sea, and shipping companies suspended their voyages.
