General cargo ship LOTTA arrived at Lorien France on Jun 27 with cargo of sunflower cake from Riga, Latvia. When holds were open in the morning Jun 27, smoke coming out from cargo was spotted. A lot of firefighters and engines were deployed, and as of evening Jun 27, firefighting reportedly, still continues. Understood cargo is smoldering, it is not open fire, so it can’t be extinguished by pouring on a lot of water, risking ship’s stability. Firefighters and dockers, reportedly, are offloading cargo, so that they can extinguish fire on pier.
