A fisherman in Trabzon’s Akçaabat district lost his life by falling into the sea as a result of his net thrown in the sea this evening.
According to the information received, Şevki Markal (48), who sailed alone from Akçaabat Port with his own boat for hunting, stopped his engine and started to throw nets in the open at around 19.00 this evening. At that time, Şevki Markal fell into the sea while the fishing net got caught in his feet. While Şevki Markal, who could not escape from the net, drowned and died, his friends called him on the phone, wondering when he did not return from the fish. Unable to reach him by phone, this time the fishermen who sailed with their boats saw that their friend’s boat was empty and informed the Coast Guard Command. Markal was found dead in the sea 5-10 meters from his boat by the fishermen and the Coast Guard teams who came to the scene, his feet tangled in the net and drowned. While the Coast Guard teams brought the lifeless body of the person to Akçaabat Port, his body was taken to Trabzon Forensic Medicine Morgue for autopsy. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
