It was learned that the Turkish-operated ships Gelibolu 2 and Skymoon King were detained within the scope of the Paris MOU.
The 1,500 dwt Gelibolu 2, built in 1984 and operated by Gelibolu Shipping & Management, was detained for nine days in Constanta, Romania, on 28 August, with 34 missing.
It was determined that the ship’s emergency generator and siren were not working, the emergency towing and fire fighting equipment and rescue boats were not ready for use, the maps were out of date and the guardrails of the ship were found to be deficient in flag state approval, proof of financial security for the repatriation of the crew, responsibility for debris removal and certificates regarding security personnel. It was found to be damaged.
Gallipoli 2 was previously detained in Romania in January 2022 and in Russia in 2021. It was learned that Gallipoli 2 was banned for a year with the Paris MOU ports being banned for the second time. It was reported that the ship was taken into maintenance in Tuzla on September 21.
Three month ban
The 1988-built, 4,300 dwt Skymoon King, operated by Lucky 19 Shipping, was banned for three months after failing all three port state control inspections in three years. The inspection of the ship, which was held for six days with 15 deficiencies in Kalymnos, Greece, on September 2, revealed lack of training, damage to air pipes, and problems with heating, air conditioning, ventilation and plumbing.
The cargo ship Skymoon king was previously detained for 12 days in Italy with 24 faults in February 2023, and for six days in Greece with 13 faults in October 2022.
Came to Tuzla for repair
On the other hand, it was determined that the fire-fighting equipment of the 193-construction, 3,100 dwt ship Haksa, operated by the British ITM Group and arrested in Venice, Italy, on August 25, with 39 deficiencies, was defective, there were deficiencies in the certificates, and the hatch covers were damaged.
