Germany’s EnBW will purchase 1.5 million tons of LNG per year from Venture Global of the USA for 20 years.
Aiming to reduce its dependence on Russian natural gas, Germany signed the first long-term LNG purchase agreement with the USA.
Germany has signed the first long-term LNG purchase agreement with a US exporter. German energy company EnBW and USA’s Venture Global LNG announced that they have signed 2 long-term Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPA). The 20-year SPA has the distinction of being Germany’s first binding US agreement.
As part of the agreement, EnBW will purchase 1.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year from Venture Global’s Plaquemines and CP2 plants from 2026.
American Venture has previously signed LNG agreements with European companies PGNiG, BP, Shell, Repsol, Edison and GALP.
