The November Assembly Meeting of the Istanbul and Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Black Sea Regions (IMEAK) Chamber of Shipping (DTO) was held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in the Assembly Hall of the Chamber.

At the meeting held under the chairmanship of Parliament Speaker Başaran Bayrak, the items on the agenda were discussed.

In his speech, Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, stated that our Republic, which was founded on October 29, 1923, after the struggle for existence under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, has completed its first century, and congratulated the 100th anniversary of the founding of our Republic, and wished that it would be celebrated with the same enthusiasm for centuries.

Tamer Kıran commemorated Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, who bequeathed our unique and beloved homeland to us, his heroic comrades in arms, and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this land without hesitation, with respect, gratitude and gratitude.

Congratulations on the 12th development plan

Tamer stated that the 12th Development Plan, consisting of 983 articles and covering the years 2024-2028, prepared by the Strategy and Budget Directorate of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and serving as a road map in the economy, entered into force by being published in the Official Gazette following its acceptance at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Kıran said that in the plan, the average growth forecast is set as 5% and the end-of-period inflation target is set as 4.75%, and the total gross domestic product in the Turkish economy is aimed to reach 1.6 trillion dollars and per capita income to 17 thousand dollars by the end of 2028.

Stating that he wanted to draw attention to an important issue while talking about the 12th Development Plan, Tamer Kıran said, “Our Chamber also participated in the preparation works of the Plan, which sets out the targets and strategies that Turkey will focus on. “We attended a total of 8 meetings, two each of the Maritime Transportation Specialization Commission, Customs Specialization Commission, Logistics Specialization Commission and Urban Transportation Specialization Commission, among the meetings held in the form of workshops by the Presidency’s Budget and Strategy Directorate, and we had the opportunity to convey the opinions and demands of our Chamber.” he said.

Stating that the “2024 Presidential Annual Programme” prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Strategy and Budget Presidency was published in the Official Gazette dated October 25, Tamer Kıran said that in the “2024 Presidential Annual Programme” prepared on the basis of the 12th Development Plan, the maritime sector is closely examined.
