Medkon Lines purchased its largest ship in its 14-year history.
The 2,011 TEU Nordic Anna was purchased from Nordic Hamburg for an undisclosed price.
The 2007-built ship, renamed Med Star, is almost twice the size of Medkon’s previous flagship, the 1,162 TEU Medkon Mira, which it acquired earlier this year. The ship is 191.07 meters long and 28.87 meters wide.
Medkon’s new ship made headlines earlier this year when a fire broke out in the engine room while docked at an Italian terminal, subsequently requiring significant repairs.
Medkon Lines currently operates a fleet of 15 container ships and has a network connecting Turkey to North Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
