There has been no news for 7 days from businessman Yasin Cinkaya, who has a boat off the coast of Aydın’s Didim district but has not been heard from.
Yasin Cinkaya, Member of the Board of Directors of Faber Mermer, disappeared on his boat sailing from Didim district of Aydın province on December 14. Following his family’s missing report, Coast Guard teams found Cinkaya’s empty boat near Eşek Island, but he could not be reached.
While the search efforts have been continuing for 7 days, Cinkaya’s situation is still unclear. The Cinkaya family issued a press statement by their lawyer stating that there were false news published in some media outlets, that they had nothing to do with reality and that they should not be relied upon.
The statement made by the Cinkaya family’s lawyer is as follows: “Our client, Faber Holding Board Member Yasin Cinkaya, sailed alone with his own boat named FBR from Didim Marina on December 13, 2023, and was last heard from by his wife by phone at 19:00 on the same day. Unfortunately, there was no news from him later on the same day.
It was noticed by fishermen off the coast of Eşek Island while the boat was drifting in the morning hours of December 14, 2023. Upon informing the Coast Guard Command, the boat was pulled to shore and the scene was investigated by the crime scene investigation teams. However, unfortunately, our client Yasin Cinkaya could not be reached on his boat. As a result of the investigations, there was no sign of any criminal activity on the boat.
It was determined that Cinkaya’s wallet, phone and all other personal belongings were on the boat. As a result of the detailed investigations carried out by the Didim Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, no suspicious situation has been found so far, and it has been evaluated that Yasin Cinkaya may have lost his balance and fallen into the sea while returning with his boat, due to the fact that the fishing rods were collected regularly and their hooks were removed and the electronic anchor was removed.
From the moment the incident was detected by the Coast Guard Command, search and rescue efforts have been continuing uninterruptedly by land, air and sea. In this context, 3 fully equipped coast guard boats, diver teams, marine vehicles equipped with underwater sonar devices participated in the search and rescue operations from the sea, and while the sea surface and undersea search efforts continue, 2 aircraft, 2 helicopters and 2 unmanned aerial vehicles and 2 unmanned aerial vehicles from the air. The surface is scanned. Coastline searches are carried out from land. During this difficult process, the family of our client Yasin Cinkaya is unfortunately left to deal with false information that is not true and does not contribute to the search and rescue efforts.
For this reason, it was necessary to make this press release on behalf of our client and his family, whose search efforts are still ongoing. There was no evidence of any criminal activity regarding our client’s disappearance. According to the opinion reported by the judicial authorities, our client Yasin Cinkaya may have lost his balance and fallen into the sea.
Other news published in the press and the public is not based on real and accurate information, and these news should not be relied upon by the public. We hope that client Yasin Cinkaya is found as soon as possible.”
