The Hong Kong-based shipping giant OOCL has recently taken delivery of two 24,188 TEU shipping vessels within 8 days. The first vessel is named “OOCL PIRAEUS,” and the second and more recent one is called “OOCL TURKIYE.

OOCL PIRAEUS is the first of a series of six vessels planned to be delivered to OOCL. It was built by the Dalian Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co. Ltd. (DACKS). On the other hand, OOCL TURKIYE was constructed by the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (“NACKS”) shipyard.

In 2020, OOCL placed an order for twelve 24,188 TEU container vessels. TURKIYE is the third vessel from the order to be delivered, following the PIRAEUS and “OOCL SPAIN” delivery earlier this year.

OOCL has emphasized that the vessels in this series are equipped with advanced smart systems and green designs to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, achieve economies of scale, and ensure long-term navigational safety.

OOCL TURKIYE will be deployed on the Asia-Europe LL3 service, along with PIRAEUS and OOCL SPAIN. The port rotation for these ships will be Shanghai – Xiamen – Nansha – Hong Kong – Yantian – Cai Mep – Singapore – Piraeus – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Zeebrugge – Valencia – Piraeus – Abu Dhabi – Singapore – Shanghai, completing an 84-day round trip.
