A passenger who fell overboard from the Royal Caribbean Cruise ship “MARINER OF THE SEAS” was promptly rescued.
The incident occurred near the Dominican Republic when a female passenger accidentally slipped and fell into the water while sitting on the ship’s railing to take a photo. However, Royal Caribbean has not yet confirmed the exact circumstances of the passenger falling overboard.
A smoke flare was deployed to mark the overboard passenger’s location, and the crew members were immediately alerted. The ship was turned around, and a pilot boat was dispatched to retrieve the passenger and bring her back on board.
Throughout the rescue operation, the guests on the ship were kept informed of the progress through public service announcements. The Portside Deck 4 was temporarily closed to passengers to ensure unhindered work for the crew during the ongoing rescue.
According to the Coast Guard, the passenger who fell overboard was a 42-year-old female, and she was in good health after the rescue. No further details have been released regarding the passenger’s identity or the circumstances surrounding her fall.
Once the rescue was successfully completed, the ship resumed its course, and there have been no changes to its itinerary.
