The regulation of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure on regular voyages by ships was published in the Official Gazette.
Procedures and principles regarding regular voyages by ships carrying vehicles or passengers between coastal facilities in Turkey and to coastal facilities abroad were determined. The Regulation on Regular Voyages by Ships of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure was published in the Official Gazette. The regulation will come into force after 3 months.
Operators who will make regular trips between coastal facilities in Turkey will receive line permits for their ships from the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.
Depending on the operator’s request, ships may be given permission for more than one route, provided that they comply with their tariffs.
Ships that will make regular trips between coastal facilities will need to be registered in the National Ship Registry or the Turkish International Ship Registry.
They will be able to make additional trips on special days
The dates of operators’ transition to summer and winter tariffs can be determined by the administration, taking into account regional climatic conditions. Operators will be able to make additional trips on special days when passenger and vehicle density occurs, with the approval of the coastal facility operators where the ships depart and dock.
Permission will be obtained from the relevant port authority for ships belonging to another operator or even to be operated through service procurement, provided that their own voyages are not disrupted.
The operator who will operate regular flights will apply online via the Regular Flights Information System (DSBS) to obtain a line permit certificate.
Flights will not be interrupted
Natural or legal persons who will make regular trips between coastal facilities in Turkey and coastal facilities in foreign countries will also be required to obtain a letter of conformity from the administration.
The duration of the eligibility letter will be determined by the administration and the letter will need to be renewed at least one month before it expires.
Natural or legal persons who want to make regular trips between the coastal facilities of their country and the coastal facilities of foreign countries will apply to the administration with the required documents.
More passenger and vehicle tickets than capacity will not be sold.
Operators will not be able to operate on other lines by disrupting their flight schedules. Unless there is a change in the voyage plan, voyages will not be interrupted except for force majeure. Passenger or vehicle tickets will not be sold for more than the capacity of the ship. Regular flights will not be possible on lines that do not have line permits or are suspended.
The permits of operators who received line permits before the regulation will come into force will be valid until the end of their current period.
The regulation will come into force after three months.
