Russian cruise ship contacted breakwater, damaged, Turkey

Passenger ship ASTORIA GRANDE (ex-AIDACARA) collided with breakwater at around 0900 LT Jan 18, while trying to enter Amasra port, Turkey, Black sea coast. The ship with 385 passengers and 283 crew on board arrived from Sochi Russia, and tried to dock at Amasra in rough weather, so strong wind is said to be the cause of an accident. ASTORIA GRANDE left harbor and sailed further to sea, cruising off Amasra, to wait out weather. It is said also, that the ship might suffer underwater hull damages, she’s to be surveyed by divers.
