Search efforts for 7 missing crew members have been continuing for 45 days

A search is being carried out for the missing 7-person crew of the dry cargo ship that sank off the coast of Zonguldak.

The search for the missing 7 personnel on the Turkish-flagged ship “Kafkametler”, which sank after hitting the breakwater due to a storm in the Black Sea Ereğli district on November 19, 2023, has been continuing for the 45th day.

Coast Guard, General Directorate of Coastal Safety, AFAD officers and other teams take part in the search and screening activities carried out by land and sea.

The Nene Hatun Ship, which increases the operational power of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety against ship accidents, marine pollution and fires, also participates in the work.

The ship rescue and debris removal company is carrying out search and removal of the wreckage of the sunken ship under the control of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.

Meanwhile, the dismantling work of the Cameroon-flagged cargo ship named “Pallada”, which broke into two and drifted aground on the same date, continues.

The Turkish-flagged dry cargo ship named “Kafkametler”, carrying cargo from Russia to Izmir Aliaga Port, sank by hitting the breakwater in the military zone while leaving Ereğli Port due to the storm in the Black Sea Region on November 19, 2023. The bodies of 5 of the 12 Turkish crew on the ship were found.
