A survivor from a fishing boat that mysteriously vanished in Washington has been rescued. This miraculous rescue occurred after the Coast Guard had concluded its search for the vessel.

The vessel in question, a 43-foot commercial fishing boat named the “Evening,” departed from Washington’s Olympic Peninsula on October 12th with plans to return by the 15th, but it failed to do so. Concerned, the daughter of one of the crewmembers notified the Coast Guard, prompting a search operation on October 24th.

Given the limited information available regarding the vessel’s last known location, the Coast Guard faced a vast search area. Over the next eight hours, they scoured more than 14,000 square miles but found no sign of survivors. Consequently, they called off the search on October 25th.

However, in a stroke of good fortune, a day after the search had been terminated, on October 26th, a crewmember was discovered by a group of Good Samaritans who were out on a fishing excursion. He was found floating in a life raft off the west coast of Vancouver Island, near Tofino. The rescued man revealed that he had been adrift alone on the raft for 13 days, ultimately running out of food and water. His rescuers provided sustenance, and he was brought to safety by the Canadian Coast Guard. He is reported to be in stable condition. The whereabouts of the one other crewmember from the boat remains unknown.
