Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that aquaculture farmers were supported and said, “With the support given, the number of aquaculture facilities, which was 1245 in the last 19 years, increased to 2 thousand 382, ​​and our aquaculture production amount, which was 61 thousand tons, increased more than 7 times to 514 thousand tons.” He made a statement.

According to the written statement made by the Ministry, the 2023 Communiqué on Aquaculture Support and the Communiqué on Breeding Trout Support in Trout Hatcheries within the Scope of Aquaculture came into force by being published in the Official Gazette, effective from January 1, 2023.

According to the statement, Minister Yumaklı pointed out that aquaculture farmers are supported with new regulations made every year, taking into account the current situation of the aquaculture and fishing industry and the Ministry’s production plans.

Yumaklı stated that nearly 120 million lira of aquaculture support was given to the sector, which was first supported in 2003, and that the total amount of support given to producers in 19 years reached 1 billion 640 million lira, and said:

“With these supports, the number of aquaculture facilities, which was 1245 in the last 19 years, increased by 91 percent to 2 thousand 382, ​​and our aquaculture production amount, which was 61 thousand tons, increased more than 7 times to 514 thousand tons. Thanks to the development of our sector, the amount of water production increased from 27 thousand tons in 2002 Our exports of products increased more than 8 times to 251 thousand tons, and the value increased from 97 million dollars to 1.65 billion dollars in 2022. More than 100 countries, especially the European Union countries, including Japan, the USA, Russia and South Korea. “We export aquatic products to over 100,000 countries. We will continue to support our industry as we have done so far, and we will maintain our position as a net exporter in the foreign trade of aquatic products and take it further.”

Support for mussel production increased by 100 percent

Yumaklı emphasized that they increased the support payment for mussel production to 1.00 lira/kilogram with a 100 percent increase in the unit price with the 2023 Aquaculture Support Communiqué prepared within the scope of the Decision on Aquaculture Support to be Made in 2023 put into effect by the Presidential Decree and said, “Project capacity is 0 -1.50 lira/kilogram for trout production for small-scale family businesses of 50 tons/year, 1.00 lira/kilogram for trout production over 50 tons/year, 1.50 lira/kilogram for trout production over kilogram, 3 lira/kilogram for production of new species, 00 lira/kilogram, 1.50 lira/kilogram for carp fish production, 2.00 lira/kilogram for closed system production, and 2.00 lira/kilogram for fish production in earthen ponds.” gave the information.

Yumaklı stated that with the Communiqué on Breeding Trout Support in Trout Hatcheries within the Scope of Aquaculture, a support payment of 60 lira per broodstock will be made in trout hatcheries, and wished that the notifications would be beneficial for all breeders.
