Metin Usta, whose body was found after the dry cargo ship sank in Zonguldak’s Karadeniz Ereğli district, was sent off on his last journey in his hometown, Giresun’s Görele district.
In addition to his family and relatives, Görele Mayor Ahmet Süleymanoğlu, Trabzon Regional Port Mayor Ahmet Turgay Okur, Görele Port Mayor Erhan Zeynel and citizens attended the funeral ceremony held for Metin Usta (61) at Görele Merkez Hasan Ağa Mosque.
Usta’s body was buried in the family cemetery in Sağlık village after the funeral prayer at noon.
Metin Usta’s brother, Aydın Usta, told reporters that his brother survived a shipwreck in the Dardanelles 20 years ago and said, “My only brother survived in that accident. All his friends died. He lost his memory for a long time in that accident. He said he was on his last voyage. He still worked.” , I guess so. That’s what he said every time he came. Each time the deceased said, ‘My last time, my last time.’ “It was no luck.” said.
It was reported that Usta, who worked on ships for about 35 years, is married and the father of three children.
The dry cargo ship named “Kafkametler” sank after hitting the breakwater after leaving the port in Karadeniz Ereğli district of Zonguldak. After the accident, the body of sailor Metin Usta was found, and a search and rescue operation was launched for the missing 11-person crew.
