The search for the missing 7 crew continues on the 27th day

The search for the missing 7-person crew of the dry cargo ship that sank off the coast of Zonguldak has been continuing for 27 days.

As part of the search for the missing personnel on the Turkish-flagged ship “Kafkametler”, which sank after hitting the breakwater due to a storm in the Black Sea Ereğli district on November 19, officers are carrying out a land search.

Coast Guard, General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM), AFAD and other teams continue their search for the missing personnel by land and sea.

While Naval Base Command personnel are scanning the coastal areas inside the port by boat, Coast Guard teams are also searching inside and outside the port.

The work is supported by the ship Nene Hatun, which has the qualifications to operate in all weather conditions and in all high seas of the world and increases the operational power of KEGM against ship accidents, sea pollution and fires.

It was learned that the on-site dismantling of the ship will begin under the control of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs. It is planned to dismantle the ship and bring it ashore and continue the search on land.

On the other hand, under the chairmanship of Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, a consultation and evaluation meeting was held regarding the search and rescue efforts for missing sailors with the participation of officials from the Coastal Police, Coast Guard Command, AFAD, Karadeniz Ereğli Regional Command, Provincial Police Department, Provincial Gendarmerie Command and ship rescue and debris removal company.
