A penalty of 12 million 596 thousand 461 liras was imposed on the ship polluting the Gulf of Izmit in Kocaeli.
According to the statement made by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, during the inspections carried out by seaplane, it was determined that the Liberian-flagged dry cargo ship “Lodestar” caused pollution by discharging petroleum-derived chemicals into the sea.
A fine of 12 million 596 thousand 461 liras was imposed on the ship, which was in a port in the Gulf district of Hereke.
The crews, taking precautions around the ship, started cleaning work at sea.
